Dublin’s Gavin James will release his ‘Live at Whelans’ album on Friday November 28th.

Performing in front of a ravenous crowd, Gavin threw in a special cover version, initially released as part of The Magnetic Fields classic long player ’69 Love Songs’, ‘The Book Of Love’ is a tender, emotional display of the heart’s power to inspire. Rendered in straight and stark terms, Gavin finds a little slice of himself at the centre of ‘The Book Of Love’.

The Dubliner also announced his biggest Dublin show to date at The Olympia Theatre on Friday 20th March. In addition he has just been added to the line up for MTV Crashes Cork on 24th Nov.  billing The 22-year-old who won the Choice Music Prize for ‘Song of the Year’ has seen his debut EP (‘Say Hello’) remain on the Irish chart for over 6 months. This rise and development in his home market has gained Gavin sell-out headline dates and wider support tours with the likes of Lianne La Havas, James Blunt, Beth Orton, Kodaline and Marina & The Diamonds.

 

Gavin’s great grandparents on his mother’s side were both famous Irish Opera singers and had their own albums released in the early 1900’s. He started playing the guitar at the age of eight, gigging around Dublin’s Temple bar. While working on his live technique, his confidence was growing, ultimately leading him to sign his record deal and he now joins ‘Good Solider Songs’ impressive roster alongside David Gray, Biffy Clyro, Birdy and The 1975.

 

He releases his live album on Nov 28th via Warner Music, which is a selection of new and old songs performed in the stripped-back environment recorded “Live at Whelans” and looks set to be replicated worldwide with the release of fleshed-out studio recordings and his debut album next year.
